Virginia Tech team ready for international finals against some of world’s best coders
The clock ticked on a recent Saturday afternoon as Eric Williamson tugged at his hair, dry erase marker in hand and eyes glued to a stack of computer science puzzles.
It was the Virginia Tech programming team’s last practice before traveling to Beijing for an international programming competition against some of the world’s most gifted coders.
The practice lasted five grueling hours — just like the competition. At the end, success is judged by how many challenges the team is able to successfully complete.
